NHL Thursday bets: Marchand-Bennett among props to target

The last two days of featured props have been quite successful, 7-2 since Tuesday.

With nine games on the docket in the NHL, there are clear targets that pop up, so we’ll be continuing our approach to find the best prop spots of the day.

I’ve enjoyed digging into the hockey slate in the morning and following my initial instincts. With that in mind, these were the first four plays that stood out.

Parlay: Brad Marchand over 2.5 SOG & Sam Bennett point (+166 DK)

I need a piece of Brad Marchand Thursday at this number, a total he has surpassed in seven of his last eight at home and nine of 10 overall.

He gets a good target to keep the shots up in New Jersey, who allow 33.3 shots per game on the road in their past 10. Marchand has also gone over his SOG in both previous meetings against the Devils this season.

We’re not betting him straight at -180, so we bring in a Sam Bennett point to turn this into a +166 parlay.

Something about being home has done wonders for Bennett. He has 17 points in his last 11 games in Florida, a trend I want to follow.

No team is scoring more at home than the Panthers at five goals per game in their past 10, and with Chicago allowing 3.7 goals per game in their last 10, I expect Florida to keep up the scoring pace.

Brock Nelson over 2.5 SOG (+100 DK)

Nelson and the Islanders will face a Blue Jackets team allowing 36.8 shots per game on the road in their last 10.

Nelson has been a rock at home, covering his SOG in 11 of his last 13 games. I’ll follow this home production against a soft opponent at even-money.

Nelson has gone over his SOG in two of three games against Columbus this season.

Jonathan Huberdeau over 2.5 SOG (-125 DK)

I already tweeted this play out, but want to include it here as it was the first of the day that stood out. Reasoning is simple, and explained below.
