Brad Pitt is in the driver’s seat!
The actor, 59, wore a racing suit and walked the grid with real Formula 1 (F1) drivers to film his new movie at the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
Together with his costar Damson Idris, Pitt, who is cast in the film as an experienced F1 driver, wore a white and black racing suit with the logo of their fictional team APXGP.
“Welcome to the grid, APXGP 👀#F1,” the official Instagram account for Formula 1 wrote alongside a series of snapshots of the fictional team on the grid – featuring Pitt and Idris, 31, alongside drivers including the current F1 world champion Ferrari’s Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz.
Pitt was also filmed driving on the track for the film and admitted to feeling a “little giddy” after the adrenaline-filled ride in front of 140,000 racing fans at Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, about 70 miles north of London.

“I have to say it’s great to be here,” Pitt told Sky Sports F1 presenter Martin Brundle after his turn in the cockpit. “We just have such a laugh, such a laugh, the time of my life.”
“Listen, it’s just been all great, I mean the atmosphere is great, just to be a part of it in this way and tell our story, everyone has been really cool with us. All teams have opened the doors for us.”
“It’s going to be really good,” he added of the movie. “I’ll stay here until they kick me out because I love it. I think it’s every man’s dream.”

Pitt then talked about the film’s premise. “I’d be a guy who raced in the ’90s,” he said. “He’s had a terrible crash and is kind of craps out and then disappears and races in other disciplines.”
“Dan’s friend, played by Javier Bardem, is the team owner. They’re the last team, they’re 21, 22 on the grid, they’ve never scored a point and they’ve got a young phenom played by Damson Idris and he brings me in like a kind of Hail Mary and ensuring hijinks. Tell you what’s great about it, you’ll see the cameras popping up all over the car, the shots you’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen G-forces like this, it’s really, really exciting.
The big short star also revealed that he had never driven a race car on a track before and had only ridden bicycles. “I’ve been cycling on tracks for the last 20 years, so that helped a lot,” he said, adding that it was “really humiliating” to have some drivers show him the way around the track.

“I don’t know if you can call mine a hot lap, I call it kind of a hot lap,” he laughed at his riding skills. “I made a few trips through the grass unintentionally, it was so high.”
Asked if he “hit anything else hard,” Pitt laughed, “No, just my ego.”

“For us, I want to say to all the recliner experts out there, you guys are going to give us a little breathing room. If you see spinouts or anything that looks like a stall, it’s designed that way!
He went on to show his newfound respect for F1 drivers through filming, adding: “As a civilian I had no idea what it takes to be a driver and the aggression and agility. They are great athletes. I have so much respect for everyone in all classes.”
According to BBC News, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is one of the producers of the untitled Apple Studios film. The film is also being made in partnership with F1, giving them special access to racetracks and professional drivers.
