Step into the shoes of a warrior and battle the dark monarch in this classic SNK beat-em-up. You can use charge attacks and defensive skills to give yourself the edge in battles, while experiencing the fun of a game of yesteryear at the same time.
Another beat ’em up, Mutation nation is weird. And that is being generous. You play as Ricky or Johnny and fight your way through mutated, mechanical enemies to save your hometown. Give them some credit; the early days of brawlers weren’t so much about story as much as fun. Strategy comes into play by deciding which attack style to use and possibly sacrificing HP to unleash more powerful attacks.
It’s football, but not as you know it. You can kick, punch and fight other players – who are all robots, by the way – in this strange take on the popular sport.
The name of this game is a bit on-the-nose, especially when you consider that this is a top-down arcade racing game. You play against AI-controlled opponents in different weather conditions. All in all, it’s a standard racer, but introduced new, interesting elements to a game released in 1991.

There were many things in 1990, but hybrid FPS/brawler games were not one of them. The super spy stands out for mixing genres and creating a unique experience where your fists and guns are the best weapons. Fight your way through a multi-storey building and drive out the terrorists who have taken up residence there.
Yet another beat-em-up (seeing a trend this month?), Top fighter: Roddy & Cathy is similar to Double dragon And Joe and Mac. Both characters can perform special moves, but the main focus of the game is to navigate the levels while collecting items and defeating enemies.
steam world dig 2 picks up where the first title left off, in a vibrant world full of treasures and traps. You play as a lone Steambot as you investigate the cause of a mysterious earthquake, using a plethora of different tools to navigate the levels. This is definitely a Metroidvania, and a great one at that.

There’s never been a game more aimed at theater kids than Once upon a time there was a jester. Become a star of the famous royal theater and improve shows on stages all over the kingdom. It’s a weird, eccentric game with an art style reminiscent of the old days Swimming for adults cartoons.
It’s like Bejeweled, but with a fantasy storyline. In this Match 3 game you help a dwarf rebuild his destroyed village. It’s pretty standard gameplay, but the main draw is the hand-drawn art style.
