Editor in Chief, Greg Migliore: “I did a lot of research before buying this lawnmower. It consistently ranks at or near the top of most reviewers’ lists for the best electric lawnmowers, and it’s a decent value for its capabilities. For example, Wirecutter lists the LM2102SP as the second best choice among electric lawn mowers, but it’s the same as the top choice, with fewer features. You won’t miss them, and this one is significantly cheaper.
Ego’s LM2102SP is a self-propelled electric lawnmower that’s very capable, has a long battery life and is attractive to boot. I was pleasantly surprised by the cutting power of the LM2102SP. It’s better than the venerable gas models I gave away. I can also carve the front and rear on a single charge – the 56-volt battery lives up to the promise of 60 minutes of run time. Other cool stuff: It’s super easy to raise and lower the deck depending on how short you want your grass, and the self-propelled power is adjustable so you can slow down in tight spots. If you’re looking to upgrade to an electric mower for Father’s Day, this is a great choice.”

Senior Producer, Chris McGraw: “I’ve done a few road trips across the country in my car, and nothing can make a lousy night’s sleep better than a strong cup of coffee in the morning. Sometimes the campsite isn’t near a coffee shop, so boil your own water and your making your own decanter is the best (and only) option. That’s where the Jetboil Flash Cooking System comes in. It can boil water in less than two minutes, so you’ll have caffeine in your veins ASAP without starting a fire. also works great if your dinner is a dehydrated meal.

Editor in Chief, West Coast, James Riswick: “A Babybjorn likes this can be great for taking your little one on outdoor adventures, but eventually they’ll get heavy enough that you’ll start having back pain… sensitive areas). Ask me how I know! Well, I turned to this Osprey Poco LT lightweight child carrier backpack and it was a sensational purchase. It is described as a good choice for those with less extreme hiking plans, which certainly describes my plans. Not only is it much more comfortable for me to wear, my son is also much more comfortable on his little princely throne (with no less flip-up sunshade).
I also love the ample storage it offers and the option to add an Osprey hydration bladder. In addition to walking, I’ve found this to be a great tool for airport travel, as it easily replaces a stroller and doubles as a carry-on for my stuff. And if you’re wondering how compact it gets, my Poco LT made a few guest appearances in my luggage tests, including this one for the Subaru BRZ.”

Multimedia producer, Erik Maier: “Virtual, augmented and mixed reality headsets are hot and only getting hotter. There are tons of options out there, with Apple even throwing its hat in the VR ring recently, but for my money the Meta Quest headsets are the best all round bang for the buck. The Meta Quest 2 (formerly Oculus Quest 2) VR headset is one of those things you have to experience to really understand. Yeah, yeah, I hear the commentators saying “Zuckerberg sucks and the the future looks like it’s going to be a dystopian hellscape’, I get it. But if we are forced even further into the tragedy that is late capitalism (and make no mistake, we are) then we might as well take advantage of the coolest stuff it offers, and VR headsets have got to be some of the coolest stuff out there right now. The first time I showed my headphones to my father, he was stunned. It lets you play 18 holes of golf from the comfort of your living room, sit passenger-side in an F1 racing car, take kayaking trips across Antarctica and more. It’s a great option to “experience” things that might be too expensive or difficult to experience in real life.
Meta recently announced a new, upcoming Meta Quest 3, but it won’t be available until this fall. However, during that announcement, the company confirmed a price drop of this bad boy, making it even more of a bargain. So for those reasons I’m going to buy one for my dad this year so we can play golf together whenever we want, even if we’re miles away.”
